Our Story

“Gardening since 1976”

We love everything about gardening. I started to plant vegetable gardens when I was in 4th grade after visiting my grandparents in Massachusetts and observing a beautiful flower garden in the front yard and a large well maintained vegetable garden in the back yard. I don’t know if the plants were from heirloom seeds or not, but since it was the mid 1960’s I assume most of the plants were heirlooms. The next year I started my own garden in Connecticut. Here in northwest Connecticut we get 4 seasons. The joy of being outside in your garden in the heat and humidity of mid summer or just taking a walk over to see how things look in the deep freeze of January brings peace to the soul. We started this website to share some of the heirloom plants we have grown and enjoyed ourselves, as well as some of the dishes we have made with these traditional plants, many of them grown for hundreds of years. I hope you enjoy growing these plants as much as we do.
